History Back To Life

Stunning photos of pictures of the finished locomotive using traditional T&R Williamson’s brushing paint paints. They were taken on the 26 July 2025 when D1994 pka 47292 entered service on the Churnet Valley Railway, Stoke on Trent. Its first passenger train since December 2019 when based on another line.

The first picture is taken at Consall in the depths of the valley where there is a pub and a few houses – it was taken by Dave Gibson, a big thank you for sharing that with us.

The second is taken by Stephen Turner at Froghall just prior to the first departure – it shows the quality of the workmanship and the splendid colours from the Williamson colour archives.

The third picture shows the loco then newly painted in May 2009 in the BR Monastral Blue paint scheme, painstakingly restored this year over the best part of two months in the evenings, weekends and many weekdays. Once again using our brush finish paints.
